Students on Placement
We welcome students from a wide range of healthcare specialities and while on placement here, we are keen to provide all the support and resources you need to help with your academic studies.
To access our services and resources you will need to register for our library and knowledge service.
Books
You may borrow up to 4 books at a time. Our standard loan period for books is six weeks, however this will depend on the duration of your placement.
Books can be renewed up 6 times (subject to recall from other borrowers and the duration of your placement).
Books can be returned to the library counter during staffed hours, by using the self-service machine located just inside the library or simply drop them in the book return bin outside the doors to the library.
Study Space
Our study areas provide the perfect environment for learning. Here, you will have the time, support and facilities needed to study, research, collaborate online or undertake eLearning; we have computers, printing and photocopying facilities for you to use.
eBooks
Access our extensive eBook collections whilst on placement, including:
Whilst signed onto a Trust computer you will have full access to our Oxford Medicine Online collection. If you are working on your own device onsite or at home, you will need to register for an NHS OpenAthens account at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
eResources

Refreshments
Feeling peckish?
Enjoy our selection of refreshments as you work, recharge and refuel.
Our hot drinks include, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, latte as well as soups.
We also have an assortment of biscuits, chocolate bars and crisps for you to choose. All items are available for under £1

Looking for a breath of fresh air? Or just wanting somewhere peaceful to eat your lunch?
Our garden also doubles as a tranquil study and learning space offering a peaceful retreat from the bustle of the hospital.
